HOPKINS CLASS OF 1957
53RD REUNION AND 350 YEAR CELEBRATION
June 12, 2010
What a wonderful weekend for all who were able to attend. We celebrated together as classmates at the Bistro Basque on the green in Milford on Friday night. The night was arranged by Alan Cadan (thank you, Alan) and the food was FANTASTIC!
On Saturday we then reconvened "up on the Hill" to celebrate the 350th year of Hopkins.
It is impossible for anyone to imagine what this campus looks like today unless it has been seen with his/her own eyes. The old soccer field has been turned into a "quadrangle" with beautiful trees, shrubs, walks, and benches surrounded by the refurbished Cage and three new buildings: the Thompson building for the Junior School and fine Arts (dedicated Saturday afternoon); the Malone Science Building, and the Heath Commons building.
Even venturing down into Baldwin Hall reveals big changes with its restoration. The new Library is attached between Baldwin and Hopkins House and is unbelievably beautiful.
A large portion of the athletic field was covered with the largest tent that could be found. And it was BIG. It seated almost all of the 3,000 people in attendance. A couple of smaller (but still BIG) tents accommodated the overflow attendees and food service.
We were entertained with a beautiful evening of Americana music and and absolutely beautiful Fireworks display to top off the evening.
